I have a hard time fathoming why any young US Citizen would remotely consider that a dictatorship and authoritarian government would be of benefit to them. We have no military draft but go back some decades when the draft that had been instituted during WW2 and never rescinded, offered up a generation of young men to feed the war machine of the Vietnam War- a war not authorized by Congress but a conflict based on assessment of intelligence as faulty as GW Bush’s “weapons of mass destruction”. During Vietnam No escaping jail for burning your draft card, fleeing to Canada or finding yourself shuttled away to Boot Camp to be used as cannon fodder in a war waged in National disgrace, moral decay and war machine profiteering. The voting age at that time was 21. At 18, the draft registration requirement kicked in. Basically You had no power of the vote. Basically you have no power but to go up against a Rogue State. So you organize. In the current moment we are all now faced with the lawlessness of the Rogue State in which we live. I would urge young people not to fantasize about dictatorships, but to involve yourself in creating solutions.
