Prof. Jeffrey Wasserstrom has studied protest movements in East Asia from the 18th Century until today. We discussed what the U.S. can learn from the youth of Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Burma.
Fascinating episode as always! Quick fact check: There have actually been more protests in 2025 than there were in 2017. The fact that it doesn't "feel" like there's been much resistance in the US speaks not to the lived reality on the ground, but to the media environment and elite attitudes.
Great stuff but the ending music is probably the best of any podcast I've ever experienced thank you for that
